2019 disability day Pakistan special interview-the society vs my disability vs me, Muhammad Naveed Iqbal

the society vs my disability, Muhammad Naveed Iqbal

MUHAMMAD NAVEED IQBAL'S STORY

I, Muhammad Naveed Iqbal have done my BS in IT. My story is rounding around the society vs my disability vs me.

My disability is minor. My right hand is 2 inches shorter having 3 fingers and thumb, so I use my left hand for everything. Till my matric life there was not any such thing named disability in my life because this didn't interrupt my life till my matric. Then, college life began and the struggle started. The struggle began from the social phobia, I started shaming on my hand and started avoiding everyone so that nobody could make fun. During all these the feeling of, "I am disable" started developing inside me.

After college, university life began. Here my social phobia turned into actual issues our society has with disable. I had to make my disability card for admission, point where I completely lost my confidence. I became a below average student. As I had to support my study fees on my own, the job struggle was running parallel to university. So I started working at medical store after my university. But yes, the store owner was a nice person. He taught and motivated me a lot.

Searching for job with disabled title is another level of struggle here. It took my 3 years, even the point came where I became completely hopeless. But...then, of course Allah is here. After 3 years of my struggle I finally passed my job test, in fact I got highest marks and Alhumdulillah today I'm working as a data analyst and I'm number 4 in my team. A person who had least marks in university is now take highest pay in IT field. Now Alhumdulillah I'm confident, happy and satisfied. :) :)

why "Disabled" becomes "Differently abled"

"Don't call them disabled, they are differently abled!!!" ... These lines must have stricken on your ears. Right??? Yeah! That’s true. Fortunately, things are changing, stigmas are changing, stereotypes are changing, and myths are getting cleared. But...How? And Why? Why these transformations are happening? Did this all done because: These people are completely different from us, so that they became differently abled. OR These people have something which we don't have, or we have something which they don't have. Absolutely not. Nothing of above points is making sense. Of course GOD Has not created 2 types of human. Human-1 and Human-2. That is why, "We all are humans, With same feelings, With same emotions, With same life phases, With same features, In the same world, In the same surroundings, For the same life purpose, For the same life goals". Then, how DIFFERENTLY ABLED? Like okay...
