Sumera Hamza (polio victim) broke the myth that, "disability means you cannot support your family".

Sumera Hamza
(born in Haripur hazara kpk, Pakistan. When she was 1 she got polio attack on her right leg and foot.

Today, in picture she is sitting in her office room plus she is about to get her PhD degree. She broke the myth that, "disability means you cannot support your family". She wants to serve Pakistan in the field of research and wants be a role model for others. Her journey of life is full of goosebumps.

Goosebumps part 1: (her walking struggles)

Inability of walking is associated with the word 'polio'. Right? But....here, the reality is that walking occupy a major portion of her daily life. She walks when she has to take university classes. Sumera live in hostel, so she does all her work on her own (from getting ready for office to doing grocery shopping). Her office is on walking distance so, she walks for it daily. Further she travels alone when she goes back to her home.

But..her walking struggles is not that simple as it seems. She shared,
"When I started walking I had to bend and use my hand on right knee to walk a little.’

“I undergone therapy sessions from AFIRM Rawalpindi and Fuji foundation hospital pindi but no improvement in my walking".

"As time went, the shortening of my leg increased and I faced so many difficulties in walking. Finally I decided to go for surgery in 2011. I got triple fusion surgery of my foot followed by surgery of ankle and knee. After which I became able to walk".

"Now I walk with knee brace and elbow stick".

"During my MS I fell and got fracture in right knee again which caused much difficulties in my research work in lab. But my friends and family supported me and encourage me to trust on Allah".

Goosebumps part 2: (her busy day)

Sumera shared her busy day with us. She shared,

"I wake up early in the morning. After namaz I start my preparation for my office. I do all my work myself as I am living in a hostel. I have organized my life in such a way that Allhamdulillah I never get late from my office. I usually leave for office at 8.45 am with my friend, it is a walking distance. My friend carries my files with her so that I can walk independently.

My office routine is busy till 5 p.m. after my office I manage my grocery shopping. In addition, I go to university twice in a week along with office duty. During my MS I went to university daily from office and returned back after 9 p.m. At weekends I normally try to cover my extra assignments of office and university. My father is a retired person so I support my family".

Goosebumps part 3: (behind this strong Sumera Hamza)

Sumera is very thankful to her family and friends for their strong support. The way her father treated her is an example for every parent. She said, "When I was a little girl my father always asked me to do small tasks at home like asked for the glass of water or asked for his files, etc. He always treated me like a normal person and never made me realize that I have a disability. Whenever I got depressed by other kids as they were playing and running and I could not, he became support for me and involved me in different indoor games etc. He is the person who taught me to fight against negativity in harsh world".

Sumera ended up her talk by saying, "In my opinion when a child gets some disability
Parents are the one who can change their life. Always treat them like a normal person. Courage and strength they got from their family is the thing which always remain with them throughout their life. Make the faith of your kid strong in Allah".

PUBLIC RESPONSE TO FAYYAZ CHOHAN SAD STATEMENT, "DISABILITY IS THE PUNISHMENT FROM GOD". Before Islam, the perception regarding disability was, " Disabled child is the punishment of God for those who have done sin."  When Islam arrived it teaches us that, God creates them so that we can see His power in them. Recently, Fayyaz-Ul-Hassan Chohan, Minister of Panjab made everyone hurt and disappointed in his Press conference. While talking about all the present situation about Coronavirus, he said, " disability is the punishment of God".  This made everyone dishearten and people protest on tweeter against this completely inappropriate statement; in which Shireen Mazari, member of the party opposed him and tweet: " Special children are not an "azaab" but are special human beings to be care and love and allowed to develop their own potential. In fact, no child can ever be an azaab and for anyone to make such a cruel, inhumane st
